Activity on this Board

Has anyone else noticed how little is being said about the Great Lakes Fishing?
Well I took about a six hour drive up to Buffalo and then headed West along Steelhead Alley last weekend in the rain.
The rivers were all blown out by Thursday afternoon, but the rivers were sure loaded with fish in the Erie area.
Spend Easter Weekend communing with nature and have a ball!

Happy Easter!

Hi Jere!! "Long time, no type!''

Diddto with the upper Rogue .. other than they've actually decreased the water flow to below 1900 cfs. We're at the edge of summer run fishing conditions ... with a river full of winter fish.

Played 'hookie' this morning and drove up to the upper river (hatchery area) to look around. Fish are free spawning all over the place in the shallows. Great to see!

Hope to get a far better 'gander' at them come Sat. morning.

Rivers are starting to finally get into sane wading shape.

Really hate to wade worrying about that next step being your last.

...but keep in mind that the mass of fish in the Erie area streams is quite unnatural (but a lot of fun, without question)

Great Lakes fish

Yup. Ohio and Penn. are full of fish. Anyone with a desire to catch untold numbers of fish should go there ASAP! THERE ARE NO FISH IN MICHIGAN! So don't go there. Nope. No chrome in Michigan.

Ooops...gotta go tie flies. Lost too many yesterday to the....ummm....CARP. Yea, that's it...CARP.

:D

...pretty close!!! Think I'll throw some leadcore on my spey and troll the shoreline this weekend...NOW THAT'S FLYFISHING!!!

Oh, have to agree with Carl...no steelhead in Michigan anymore, they have all migrated into Lake Erie. AND there are NEVER any chromers in MI from October through February. What few fish that still do ascend Michigan's beautiful streams only show up when the water is too muddy to fish in March & April. To that point, they spawn and leave before the water has a chance to recede. Thank goodness we still have carp, suckers, and freswater drum...otherwise we would really be hurting.
