I cannot remember where I heard this rumor so I will ask the question to the forum. Have any new sections of Oak Orchard Creek in upstate New York been posted against trespass? The sections in which I am referring to are the sections below the dam...and the section were you pay $5-$10 to the "nice" man drinking Miller High Life in the lawn chair so that you may park.
Two guides (one on each side of the river) leased the land and it covers essentially the whole area that can be flyfished.
A couple of things are wrong wih this picture:
1. The state has been trying to lease rights for years.
2. The folks want to sell the property.
3. I think the people are doing this to "force the state's hand".
Anyway, I'm going down in October with a video camera to get some pictures of the "confrontations and altercations". Should be as much fun as fishing! :hehe:
I am sorry to hear that. Although it was always crowded when I fished it the crowds always seemed to be much more behaved then on some of the other streams in the area.
Too bad about that.
The Oak is the only place I've seen people line up shoulder to shouder, staking out their territory, waiting for sunrise to begin fishing. "Good" behavior is relative...when I was there the snagging situation was out of control. We did manage to catch some nice fish but the atmosphere of the place was kind of ridiculous.
Even saw a fly fishing "celebrity" play a foul-hooked brown all the way in. Real sportsmanship there.
Guess that means some of the other local waters will be more pressured than ever.
Hoping to get up to Sandies in the next few weeks.
