Pike - Hair Brain
 
Tying Steps
1-Over wrap the hook
2-Tie in pale blue Bucktail over white BT , topped with pink Krystal flash, about 3 inches long extension beyond hook bend, this forms a platform
3-Tie in white fibre hair on top 3 inches long, and tie in white fibre hair about 1 inches long on the bottom
4-Tie in spreader, large EZ Body
5-Repeat step 3, with KF over it, sparse & cover the spreader
6-Tie in red fibre, under the hook, to reach hook bend
7-Tie in Pale olive Fibre over top, sparse & cover the spreader
8-Whip finish & paint the head with red nail polish

Thread: Uni 3/0 white
Hook : 2/0 Daichii # 2546
Platform: White & pale blue bucktail
Body: EP Fibre hair, white & pale olive
Flash: Pink Krystal flash

I hope you don't mind the name, the pattern is using many of your Feather Brain techniques so I fogured the name should reflect your pattern.

I agree with John.

Why did you tie in the hairs? Didn't you want to goop them one by one onto the spreader like John does with feathers? j/k :p

Looks like I'll have another pike fly to test drive this spring. :)

Mark, I just don't have John's patience....:hehe:
As for the test drive, I'll be testing them as well, I tied a similar pattern last year but with a different fibre, more coarse and stiffer and very krinkled type of stuff. It did not stand up to the teeth test of the pikers. I'm hoping that this one will do better becasue the fibres are softer and I think it will be easier to release them from the teeth on the roof of the mouth and I hope the platform will also help prevent too much tangling.
