My usual request:

How about a recipe? :)

Very nice, sure puts a meal on the table!

How did yo usecure the two halves? I've used aquaseal in the past but I am curious what you used.

top natural rabbit
bottom white rabbit
body i used white antron yarn to cover the lead
zapagap to secure them

What type of hook did you use?

The gap looks kind of narrow for a fly of that bulk. Have you experienced any problems hooking fish?

I'll give one of them a workout in Ontario for you later in the year. ;)

it is just a regular streamer hook the hair make the gap look small but there is plenty there i think

Do you pierce the bunny strip on the bottom with the hook point? Or do you just tie it to the side/bottom?

nice fly.

pierced with the hook

Sean, I'm aware of how the rabbit hide can make the gap appear smaller than it is. I've tied many of these myself. But I'm still wondering about how small that gap is in relation to the overall size and bulk of the fly. And since you didn't answer my question about compromized hooking ability, I'll assume that you haven't fished this pattern for pike before.

Don't worry...I'll give one of 'em a ride. ;)

SDHflyfisher 01-17-2004 08:33 AM

this was the first time i have even tied it
seen the pattern on TV acouple of times and that it has won the One fish tourny in wyoming twice so i figured it would work well in larger sizes for pike
this spring i'll give it a go for some smallies and if i am lucky maybe i'll be able to get some of the pike and the musky that are in the river
