Speaking of purple:
You're two for two on your patterns.
Would like to see what the folks who fish the Descutes think about this combo. Gather purple is a main-stay on that particular river.
On the Rogue, save for our 'October "B run" of summer steelhead purple has been far less than a go-getter. In context, the Rogue has two runs of summer runs; the first/largest are our 'normal fish' which will run 3-5 pounds. The "B run," my own term here, are much larger fish .... winter run size. These puppies hammer purple, and of all things??, robin's egg blue flys.
These have done OK on the Clearwater, and the Salmon. I like to use them at first and last light.
Purple and black spey fly, gotta' love it. The purple muddler is also a winner. I used to tie a muddler variant that had purple braided mylar as the body with a black marabou wing and a black deer hair collar/head. It worked very well in the fall on the Olympic Peninsula.
