Rod bag making pattern?

Yeah, yeah... I know.. simple enough. But where can I find a pattern for a rod bag?

They're so cheap

Why bother to make one?

Just wanted to make it to add a personal touch for the rod I'm making. No other reason. :)

I've made many rod bags. Hand-sewn, it's a several-hour project, good for an evening of TV watching. I've used both string and velcro closures. Once, I embroidered my name on a bag's flap. No pattern is needed. Cut the cloth slightly more than twice as wide as a suitable existing bag. I sew the bottom and side edge first (pins for holding the parts together are a help here) inside-out to hide the edge, then turn the bag rightside-out and sew the stitches between rod sections. It sometimes helps to use chalk or crayon to mark a straight line.

one tip:

If each bag is a different color fabric or pattern, it is easy to recognize specific rods right away.

When it comes time to head out the door, grab the aired out rods by sight and stick them in a multi rod carrying tube. Quick and easy.

The only drawback is that my wife makes the bags, which helps her keep track of my spending habits :o
