Very Good Image Reducer - FREE
Resizing is necessary to use digital camera images on websites.

Microsoft Corp offers a FREE image resizer available on their website. Just search for "power toys" and select "Image Resizer" or any of the other cool tools for download. Make sure you choose according to your operating system (XP, Win95, Win98, NT, etc).

Double click on the install file and follow the instructions. Once completed, it adds a new choice in the right-mouse menu "resize image". Select this and you will have a number of choices for reduction.

I found best results with /advanced/custom = 320x240 pixels

Give it a try!

For anyone who's a little more technically inclined, a program called jpeg resizer (available at is excellent. It will do a bunch of files all at the same time, and it works in the background.

The UI is a little clunky though, like I said, more the the slightly image savvy. But it is awesome to do a bunch of pics for emailing, posting, or web work.
