The fish are IN

The rain the other night REALLY got things going in a big way. I spent the entire day catching freshies yesterday, including a number of nice browns and a few steelhead. The king run has REALLY begun, though...

Go up Friday or Saturday -

LOSA will have its annual "how to" meeting and be teaching techniques at the hatchery then. A good time to "brush up" and learn, maybe even try your hand with the Spey Rod! Public is invited.

salmon river rain

Looks like the river got a good bit of rain or the dam opened another gate according to the pinevile usgs gauge. Anyone with any first hand knowlege of what the fish are up to? Big run yet or still just an early season trickle through the lower part of the river.

It was a dud...

too bad, cuz the fish are "at the starting line", so to speak, just waiting for the cue. We have been NAILING them just off-shore, its the best I have seen it in a long time out there. The river is a different story, though. There ARE fish to cast to, though a bit spread out at this point. Took a nice brown yesterday in the river

There is some rain in the forecast for this week, BTW

I agree.

The rains were disappointing to say the least.

But fish are in, both salmon and some limited steelhead. And the massive crowds haven't arrived yet - but they won't be long in coming!

hi jim, unfortunately we didnt get the rain that we need. few isolated t-storms and showers, nothing major. river is still running at 335. things should break loose pretty soon though. plenty of fish in the river by the way. mark

Salmon River Rain?

Anyone know if Isabel has provided much rain to the Salmon River area and if they have stepped up the river release at the dam?
Thanks in advance!
