|John Desjardins||Duh, brain freeze occurred there.|

JD - 5/5 (parsimony) is Juro's corollary; nothing to do with Red Green. Somehow I think Sprocket knew the difference there, Rabblerouser.
Anytime, just doing my part.
|05-15-2003 10:10 AM|
Huh 5/5 guy? Maybe I don't watch Red Green often enough.

|striblue||Well said Sprock....but flys are one thing ,baskets another... but I know what you are talking about..iIwas just joking around and I could not resist when I saw Mr. Happy add to the thread.|

Adrian - Ireland was AWESOME. It was the longest single vacation I've had to date. Fishing was so-so but I had fun anyway - didn't report because there wasn't much I could say. Overall, I couldn't complain.
The food, family & friends were all enough to make the trip worth it - the fact that I got to fish on some fabulous water was icing on the cake.
Note: they are starting to develop saltwater bass fly-fishing. There's one guy pioneering the whole thing - he's had write-ups in several of the magazines. The bass are mid 20's and no stripes but definetely related to Mr. Pajamas.
Gotta get some work done now - these people, I swear...

Juro, I left you a voicemail message at home.
I am proud to be a 5/5 guy, in the vein of Red Green and other venerable, yet cantakerous, parsimonius Yankee tightwads.
As for the dissenters, rabblerousers and malcontents, I'll deal with you later :eyecrazy:
P.S. to Sprocket. Your Game Show Host, Gary Moore, hosted the same show in later years.

I was going to say something like that but I think Todd said it better :hehe:
Say Todd, how did the Ireland trip go?
|05-15-2003 07:25 AM|
John, I'm surprised at you - you tie flies don't you? you should understand the search for better/easier/not-gonna-pay-ten-when-I-can-get-it-for-five, even-if-I-have-to-burn-twenty-in-gas-getting-it-all/magic materials like craft store body braid, crease fly foam & jewlery wire...It's a Yankee ingenuity thing and that's the point.
Sure any Juro-shmow can drop the cash on the counter and get what they want but how many O flies are in your box?
Why don't you just buy 'em instead of taking all that time with the epoxy & feathers (not to mention all the time we take reading about it here on the BB)? For the same reason I do - because it's your hobby, that's why.
It's not the "thing" that's important here, it's the "doing". And besides, how else are we gonna get King Curmudgeon to give us game show history lessons?
and if it helps, I've got a constant supply of Badger part #11P21N:
3.00" dia x 1.00" tall - flange is 3.50" dia. OD, 3.00" ID
If it doesn't have to be conical just cheap & low profile.

|striblue||Now...I must ask everyone... with the way this thread is going...don't you think it would be just as easy to buy one...but Fix would not have shown up... like in the dead of night! Just when you least expect it ..WAHAMMO...|

How about Cigar tubes ?
A dab of superglue to seal the cap then marine goop to the base of the dishpan. I would be looking for a bit more surface area though - might not take much abuse.
Or there are those power drinks with the cone shaped caps (Red Bull taste-alike) - where's Roop when you nee him Very lightweight (drink the contents first) then glue the can plus cap to the base of the bowl.

|Sprocket||I must have been thinking of To Tell The Truth, Password or the Gong Show or something...|
|05-14-2003 01:54 PM|
Then you're WAY OFF !!!
'cuz I was in the Fifties version, even tho' it's memorable beyond...
Quick trivia question without looking it up in ancient internet trivia resources: What's the Host/Moderator's name in my timeframe?? Your Host/Moderator is Gary Moore.

signal: I have half a brain sometimes.
shot: it did cross my half-mind but I actually GOT the reference and can picture Kitty Carlisle wearing something with flowerey accessories, the set of the show and almost the moderator in his blue suit and wiiiide tie bold stripes like bad wallpaper in typical early 70's fashion and reconsidered - besides, any attempt to one up such an elegant dig would only do it an injustice...they'll be other threads, I'm trying to get a little more trecherous with my digs

Porcupine - Somehow, just as I suspected
I knew you'd come up with something beneficial to add here. I really thought you were gonna take a shot, but you disappointed me.

"The problem with these is that the solution will not be repeatable...The ideal solution would be easy to re-create. "
"I'd think a contact at Charrette, where they do contract work for businesses, would produce more of them than we could effectively use, kinda like Nick's boxes"...
That might possibly be arrainged with a certain red-headed architect I know...getting on it. we can make THOUSANDS! Hundereds even.
