Dble Haul Pete, you can get a great primer on tying these flies by visiting Capt. Ray's website. He's a long time sponsor and friend of flyfishingforum.com. Check it out at www.castaflycharters.com, or click on one of his banner ads here at the Forum.

Have fun, and get after those pike soon.

Dble Haul
Angel Hair Daredevle

This fly uses Capt. Ray's technique for tying in Angel Hair....in fact, it's an Angel Hair baitfish tied for pike.

Hook: 3/0
Thread: Mono
Tail support: Short, sparse white Super Hair
Overwing/Underwing: Red and white Angel Hair, tied in to represent the classic Daredevle red and white spoon
Eyes: Large prismatic
Head: A dab of epoxy encompassing the eyes and whip finish

Overall fly length is about 6 inches.

I have reservations about how long these will last with pike, but I just had to try. I like how the Angel Hair baitfish flies fish in the salt, so I have to give them a fair shot in the sweetwater.
