RE:Smart Media Upgrade

Juro, I was lucky enough to get a great deal on the Olympus C-3000 digital camera. It's a long story for another time.

What I can offer, though, is my camera for clave photos since I'm not much of a tyer yet. I must warn you, though, I'm a point and shoot kind of guy with a fairly idiot proof camera. I shoot mainly in the auto-focus programs but there is an easy macro setting for closeup work.

I would have shown up with a bounty of liquid refreshments(I'm a sales manager for a local beer distributor) but I have the utmost respect for the wishes of the hosting club. I'm open to requests for any other events that I may attend.

RE:Smart Media Upgrade

Good luck with your camera. If you go to USB you need to upgrade to win98 or ME or win2000, since 95 does not work with usb. If you use a serial port your access is painfully slow, besides Gates needs the money.

I will take some Pics & post them tonight! If I make a Mint, I'll have to give FFF a finders fee!!

Juro, BTW: Since I will be at the Tying Clave in the AM & then at Al-D's in the PM, I could deliver the "appreciation tying box" in person; let me know.

RE:Smart Media Upgrade (now lures)

Go to your friendly Borders book store and review the books on old lures, such as one by Carl F. Luckey, about $22.00. The price skyrockets when it is in a box, or sell the box alone.

My limited research shows the value of my lure at about $60., so I don't know what is going on. Another lure like mine is on ebay also for $50-60.

Hey well we're on the topic, we just got a nice Kodak dig camera but I have no USB. I'm planning on adding a PCI card with USB on it and upgrading our home machine (win95 hold out). Anyone try those USB cards yet? They go for $30.

GregO -

You can assume they are worth a lot. It seems Garo has some knowledge on the topic; I can also get you some great contacts.

RE:Smart Media Upgrade

It's interesting that this camera media thread got us into the topic of antique lures. I have some very old bass lures, wooden plugs swimmers, etc. that I found in an old tackle box in a house I bought 10 years ago. They are in very good shape & some of them are in their original boxes. Can you reccomend a way to find out if any of these are rare and/or valuable. I can take some photos & post them, if it would be helpfull? BTW: one of the ones I have looks a lot like the last ebay post!

RE:Smart Media Upgrade

VERY COOL! Nice job. I am tempted to bid myself!

I had an old plug that caught fish like crazy, lost it on a huge Winnepesaukee bass that exploded my line. That lure had caught some of my best fish as a yong teen. Kinda wish I got to retire it formally, but that wasn't a bad way to go.

RE:Smart Media Upgrade 046 This one to be posted soon.

The top url had a # missing. Try these two for examples with the bottom having macros of lures. I can post some flies at a later date.

RE:Smart Media Upgrade

Hey Garo -

I went to the link, but it said the item was no longer up. Did you sell the item with those sharp images?

Sounds like you have a primo digital outfit. How does it do for macro fly shots?

Digicams in general

I have a Nikon 990 which I find fantastic. It uses CF media. I was able to use an external flash with nikon cables and an SB26 flash. So I simply set my cam. to no flash and use my ext. flash separately. I have some of the best images on ebay. The price has come down to $850. You can usb from cam to computer, pc or mac.

I have a sandisk which works on both but you don't need it.

I have never crashed with Windows 2000, never. The beauty is that it makes the system plug & play, and the usb works.

As a sample, check out this auction:

RE:Smart Media Upgrade

My bad! I just looked at the PC and it's a parallel port Imagemate on the NT workstation. At home I have the USB version.

Sorry about that.

RE:Smart Media Upgrade

Mike, just to clarify, are you talking Windows 2000 (based on NT, but with some major differences) or NT 4.0? The last time I checked there were no USB drivers for NT 4.0.... I just checked the Sandisk web site and could not locate anything other than drivers for Mac, Windows 2K, 95, and 98. Have they come out with an NT 4.0 widget? If so, details please!!

RE:Smart Media Upgrade

FWIW: I have attached USB based Smartcard readers to NT no problem (Sandisk Imagemate), regardless of what people say about NT and USB not playing well together. had the best deal on a 32 meg card including the reader when I bought it for my Sony TRV900 <!--http--><a href="" target="_blank"> 3 CCD Sony Camcorder With Integrated Still Camera
