|removed_by_request||Aren't many coasters around, besides they are char and not salmonids so you could take them off the list.|

I know what you are talking about.

one word.. North. your buddy M.S. wrote it up many moons ago.
you'll have to pass all the lower Mi. streams and head for big water and fish.

Going to have to get up there and try and try to add three more species to my GL slam list. Pink, atlantic, and Pinook.
Wheres the best place for Coaster brook trout opportunites ? You can PM me on that if you like don't want to give it away to the world.

The Garden is an amazing river, gets way too much pressure now.
Guess a Superior one day grand slam would be Atlantic, Steel, pink, king, and Pinook. Funny thing is that goal is possible believe it or not.

Lake Superior sustains an adequete population of pinooks. Rivers such as the Garden can have good numbers of them at times. Both kings and pinks spawn in the Garden, and the numbers are enourmous. Sometimes the result will be the genetic cross of this Pinook!

They have them in Lake Superior either the Ste. rapids or Garden river. They run fairly large and are around when the kings and pinks hit the streams.
Lots of guys catch them up there timing is the key.

Are the Pinhooks in Lake Superior only ?
I don't think I would recognize one if I caught one would think it was a deformed salmon of some type, and want to get it off my line ASAP .

Pinooks are a male Pink salmon x Female Chinook hybrid.
Hooked one in the Manistique(about 6#), had it to my feet before it tore loose
Michigan Fisheries recognizes the cross & requires 15# for a Master Angler Award. That little one tore me up, can't imagine 15#'s......

It looks like your the man, however to be a GLs slam would have to be caught from GL waters.
I think I know where you will be heading to get the slam.
Whats a pinook ?
