JimW John, I'm in for 7.

Q, that's some nice epoxy work. I have not tried that pattern, I'm tying a suspending sub-surface shrimp to be fished in current. That ultra shrimp looks good for skipping along the bottom.

Quentin I used tan superhair, which is almost colorless in small quantities, with a few strands of olive superhair mixed in. The result is a transparent shrimp with darker veins running through the body. Subsequent versions will have antennae (which I forgot to include on this fly) and a better overall shape and finish than the prototype.

Here's a higher resolution scan that shows the translucent body and darker veins:

Quentin OK, I think I've decided on a pattern. It will be a Popovics Ultra Shrimp-style grass shrimp unless the meister feels that we have enough Ultra Shrimp entries already, in which case I will choose another pattern.

Here's my first effort:

Just for clarity (so I don't mess up again), how many shrimp are we tying? I'm thinking of doing a grass shrimp version of the General Practitioner from Ken Abrames book. It's definitely something different.

Best regards,

striblue Hhhhmmmm. This is getting interesting all ready... don't be afraid to try something you have not done the time this swap is do we should have enough examples of shrimp to carry us though several seasons and locations...which is the point of all this.

I'm in.

May have to get a few hints starting points. I think I am leaning toward more of an impressionist type of fly like I see in Kaufman's Bonefish book.
