Jdesjardins The beads came from a craft store. I tried it for trout when I tied it using the spiky tips of the emu feathers and it didn't work. I haven't tried it with the fluffy base of the feathers, yet.

As I type this, the fly is on its way to Quentin for the raffle at the Marlboro show.

BigDave Would make a great trout fly too...kind of like a bead head sparkle pupae. John, where did you score the glass beads?

Nice tie,

Dave

Cocemu

Heres a simple one that worked well for panfish last year.

Hook: Nymph 10-16 #14 here
thread: white
Bead: 6/0 Amber Glass with silver plated thru hole (Rocalle sp?)
Body: Peacock Herl
Collar: The fluffy base of an Emu feather, Olive was used here. Ostrich Herl would probably work.

To tie, wind a base for the bead and seat it. Tie in 4 -6 pieces of peacock herl & wind wind forward almost to the bead. Add 2 1/2 turns of emu for a collar, tie off and your done.

The glass bead gives this fly a slow jigging motion that works well in still water
