Dble Haul Jim- The picture is a bit deceiving....when I took it, the marabou was still slicked down and wet from when I tied the flies. I do this when tying in marabou to keep it manageable. When dry, the tails are quite full.

old man I tied some up that looked like them but I had Marabou for the tail. But they worked. Olive and black.

Edit:What I meant to say is that my tails were fuller.

Dble Haul I never really considered it, but you're right....they are buggers without hackle. Funny how Kauffman's book doesn't point that out.....

FWIW, these flies work okay in stillwaters. But to be fair, I haven't fished with them too much so I can't give them an overwhelming thumbs up or thumbs down.

Hook: Size 6-12 (here, a 3XL size 8)
Head: Bead
Thread: 6/0, color to match pattern
Tail: Marabou with a few stands of flash
Body: Any dubbing with some sparkle in it

Other popular colors include olive, maroon, and brown.
