pmflyfisher The only recent fly fishing president was Jimmy Carter - Democrat not sure about the representatives and senators.

Dwight Eisenhower was fly fisher - Republican impacted me when I was starting fly fishing back east in my youth. Heck Dwight is the only president I have seen in the flesh at a West Point cadet graduation when I was a kid.

Calvin Coolidge also was a fly fisherman, who were the other president fly fishers ?

I have not studied this analysis yet but will this weekend.

FredA As a staunch progressive conservative liberal I'm stunned not by the party polarity of the "Best and Worst" lists but by the fact that it surprised me at all. I'm not surprised by the apolitcal nature of "thinking people" given the the dumbed down state of the political landscape.

watersprite Wow, I'm viewer No.#6, and this is my second time to visit this thread.

Two things are immediately clear:

1. The resource issue is clearly divided between party lines. The Republican party has never been the friend to fly-fishers.

2. Sad but true, fly-fishers are generally not political. A point driven home by Ladyfisher of FAOL.

...and supporting #2 is the wide detour most have taken on this thread. It may set a record for fewest "hits".
