Big Eye Baitfish (Sheep hair)

Roop really turned me on to Icelandic sheep hair when I got his pike swap fly in my hands this past spring. I tried incorporating it into the standard Page Rogers Big Eye Baitfish pattern in lieu of bucktail and also went with some red marabou for a gill effect. The hair looks great in the water, and so far it seems to be a bit more durable to the bluefish (but just a little!).

These flies are tied on 3/0 hooks, and the overall fly length is just over 6". I plan on putting these in front of some migrating cows and a few more belligerent bluefish.
