Geoff Unfortunately have not hooked up with a carp yet. The lake where I am fishing is fairly dark weedy bottom so I often do not see the fish until they are quite close. Usually they seem to see me about the same time. I haven't focussed on them much as of late and I gather they do require a fair amount of persistence. I have a friend who has been seeing them mudding in a local river so hope to give them a shot at some point. I'm not giving up and look forward to gleaning additional insights into the ways of the carp from you Quentin.

Nice smallie! I'll take that as "bycatch" any day! So . . . did you get a carp yet while fishing from the yak? Just wondering how long the battle lasted .

Geoff Ok- so here's my report- though a bit late. I caught this fish back in July off of Aurora on Cayuga Lake. I had been reading about Quentin's carp and was targeting them primarily. Catching these bass kept me in the game. One bass I actually saw as I was paddling along. As I coasted past I quickly put down the paddle (placed into empty front seat) grabbed the rod and cast back to the fish which I could no longer see. Let the fly sink- strip - strip- strip- and wow he's on!

JimW I hit a few out in the pungo this AM on the outside of Plymouth beach, ~26" fish no sleighrides. Some surface activity. Bait was mostly silversides.
