here's the rod holder I have

here's the one I used http://www.scottyusa.com/flyrodholder.html

make sure you mount it far enough back that you don't hit the rod or holder on a long paddle stroke. these are nice cuz you can get an extra mount(very small) and have a couple places on the yak to use it. they run about $20.00, I got mine at Succonnet boat house in Tiverton RI. Tom D

FishHawk Still working out the bugs for all my equipment on the yak. Friends who use anchors use them off the back end. Make sure you can cut yourself free if you have to. I mounted two black nylon clips for my paddle on the side of the yak which works well. Still work on the rod holder. I am going to build a cheap, but serviceable rod for yak fishing . FishHawk

JimW Anchoring can be tricky in all but the calmest water. I use a spring clamp on the gunwale and tie the anchor line to it. I figure if I need to loose the anchor in a hurry it will be as easy as squeezing the clamp. It also lets me change the attitude of the boat in a current. When trolling from spot to spot I just put the rod under my arm leaving the reel down inside the boat.

equipment for yaks

I have an anchor for my yak that the line runs through aneyelet on one end of the yak. Which end of the yak do you put it on. I think that the back is right if you intend to fish while anchored. This is awkward as far as retrieving the anchor.
Also does anybody use a rod holder and if so where is yours mounted.
Thanks Larry
