striblue Joe, those are peacock herl,, the fly is about 5 or 6 inches. I do not use my scanner.. I have a Sony D-5 Digital camera and just plug the camera into my lap top ,,, open the camera file, transfer it to "my Documents" then open that into Adobe photoshop and reduce it, sharpen, adjust the contrast and brightness (If I have to)...It automatically adjusts the photo in my Documents... then just use the Thread directions.
