Dble Haul I'm attaching a better picture of this fly. It's a nice pattern and deserves a better photo. I apologize for the poor quality of the initial pic.

Dardevle Flat-wing (pike swap entry)

Here's Adrian's pike swap fly. I'll attest to its effectiveness. On an April pike sortie with Adrian and Roop, this was the only fly that either caught fish or drew strikes. Well done Adrian! Here's the recipe in his own words:

Pike fly swap - Dardevle Flat-wing

The idea for this pattern is to combine the traditional classic red/white coloring of the Dardevle Spoon with the mobility of flat-wing construction plus a palmered marabou collar for even more irresistible movement. Variations are limitless use your imagination! Try a strongly contrasting color in one of the saddles (e.g.fluorescent yellow over the red).

For instructions on the construction of flat-wings see Kenney Abrames website (www.stripermoon.com).

Tail: 50/50 Red and white bucktail (NOT Blended), followed by three white saddle hackles tied in flat-wing style followed by two gold/silver flashabou one inch longer than the hackles followed by three bright red saddles.

Body: White crystal chenille.

Collar: Bucktail white bottom, white/red blended sides and red topping. Followed by bright red marabou palmered to the eye.

Eyes: Plastic 3D stick on.

Prior to applying the eyes, the marabou collar is pulled back and the head dipped in softex for about inch. Once set apply the eyes and dip in softex another couple of times making sure that only the front inch of marabou is covered.

Optionally finish the head with epoxy for more durability.

The finished fly is about 6 inches in length. Using different length hackles, any length up to 12 inches is possible. The great thing about flat-wings is they are easy to cast and they work!
