juro Yeah, the Gaspe sounds like the right way to go. Margaree the next year after. You're right, we have the classic AS experience within striking distance!

Lefty The trade off is time vs. money. You can almost buy an extra day of casting for AS by spending an extra ?? (100 or 200 bucks) for airfare. I've driven to the Margaree and it's 900 miles! Yikes. That's the equivelant of driving to South Carolina. It's deceiving. The ferry from Portland Me. to Yarmpouth N.S takes off miles but saves little time.

Consider that you can get to the Gaspe in 2/3 the drive, and there are ways to do it cheap. Let's keep entertaining all options, get the facts and then see if anyone is interested. I am.

Lefty (or should I change my handle to Lee since we're talking AS).

juro I can get lots of good info on cabins, rivers, etc. Is it cheaper to drive to the ferry from Maine to Nova Scotia and drive our own from there?

Lefty A quick review shows $350 RT to Halifax from Boston. Then you rent a car and drive 2 hours up to Cape Breton near the Margaree.
I'll dig up some hard numbers and scenarios over this winter as a side project. I'd like to see this work.

juro We could get lots of info on Cape Breton easily - right down to the cabins, pools and friends who can point us in the right direction.

I recall someone having a good Gaspe connection as well, I have a few I have not been keeping kindled nearly enough.

How much would a puddle jumper cost?

Is 2002 the year for the Gaspe Clave?

It's a 12 hour drive from Boston. We could rent a camp or 2 and perhaps a gillie or 2. Perhaps 2 Truckloads leave from beantown, we go for 5 days. Fish 3, travel 2.
How about it? Anyone? Estey boys?
It's our clave destiny to reach out to the fisheries around us.
There is also the option to fly from Logan to Newfoundland cheap. Lots of nice camps there. Then there's Cape Breton.

I would co meister if there is interest.
