What fly? Never saw no fly. That one in my box... oh that's somethin' I found on my pillow, yeah that's it. Who's Bob?
JK - I'll be untangling my post-show mess today to bring the booth down to Plymouth in preparation for the MSBA show next weekend. I'll locate it and put it aside for the next time we hook up.
The deck of Double Happiness would be a worthy location for such an exchange, no?

Hi there Joe,
Nope, I haven't seen anyone other than my contractors and the guy who unloads the dumpster for the past two weeks (major house remodel) but my role is hopefully fast approaching it's end as it looks like it might be an early start to the season this year.
I'm sure it's a 'killer' pattern!

"au natural", that been the theme lately. Field of streams... if you tie it, they will come.
Ron,.... I know what you mean. Been using 'em too. Not in the currents as much, but around the point in the boulder fields. Especially on a dropping tide. Just keep it to yourself and hang on to your rod.

|rel1||Looks like you'll be throwing that at Colt Park come spring, Ray. I've had good luck with one similar to that there for the past 2 yrs. Ron|

My first attempt to mimic your black flatwing. I call it "Black Death". This is my cremation..... hot off the vise. Just born! Can't even see yet without eyes. :hehe:
I think I got the hook down pat?

Greetings Mr. Cordeiro. Ready to turn out that second batch of 750 flatwings? Great to have you visiting the board. It's hard to believe that anyone here might not know of you but just in case Joe Cordeiro has been not only a skilled tyer but a great teacher. Among other skills, he's a wiz with the Abrames style flatwings. I can still clearly remember sitting 'literally' at his right hand in Newport two years ago watching him turn out a Razzle Dazzle and having the patience to answer question after question from the crowd.
Nuff said, great to hear from you.
Now, I tied this fly as an imrpovement to a bucktail streamer I used on the vineyard two years ago. I never even found out what the bait was that it was imitating but it was a killer pattern. It was also a natural to enhance as a flatwing. I also wanted to try some of the UV crystal flash in an all black pattern. This ones about 4-5" long, I also tied some using the RLS hackles that are about 8 - 9" long but not as the eel punt style. I used the small 3D eye epoxy head.
I didn't even tie the eel punt until late last season so I haven't given it a fair test.
I've also got to confess at not being a purist in that I rarely fish a floating line, partly because I do most of my fishing from a boat and mostly during the day. My first instinct is to think deep ( not deeply think as many will attest! ).
If you'll be at Wilmington I'll bring some samples of some sandeel flatwings that were very effective offshore in Chatham this past summer.
