artb My coment is the guide spacing the same on all 10 foot rods? What I have for spacing is as I list.
Inches from the tip top for a 10 foot rod.
4 3/4"
22 1/4"
28 7/8"
35 3/4"
43 1/2"
51 5/8"
69 1/4"
79 1/2"
90 1/4"
Just curious

juro Thanks guys - back from the tying clave, but have to run to family "clave" in a couple minutes... will check in later tonight or tomorrow.

Comment before I go: Sage recommends that I put the guides on the white line, that solves the spline issue unless I want to second guess them... nope!

Not with my current experience level anyway. So I guess I can wrap whatever whenever...

Next step: make the vee braces that will hold the rod up. I have a Flexcoat 6rpm motor but not the braces.

Guide Size

Remember to go over size on the guides especially on the strippers.

JimW Juro, I take it you found the guide spacing recomendations on Sages site.

John Desjardins Juro, Wrap the ferrules, then check the spline. The wraps on the ferrules are supposed to reinforce the blank when you flex the blank.

juro Nope... Sage marks the blank with little white temporary dots to line up the parts. Once assembled, I can't detect any deformation at all (fairly stout blank - 10wt) so with the brand markings the way my other Sages are, it looks good to go.

Next I would need to place the guide and put some masking tape there or something. Off the the Sage site to get guide spacings...

WOW nice job on the Sage site redesign Skookum!

Alright Then....

I've got the blank out of the bag, put the ferrules together and am already getting psyched! I guess I should find the spline with the pieces put together first...

(help me here!)
