Tod D Don't know if it would work on a yak, but I use Doweast rod holders on my canoe & find them to be terrific. You'd probably need to mount it at some point in the cockpit opening (which may/may not impede paddling) but I they go for around $20 and I find them easy to get the rod in/out - esp. when a fish hits.

marvin At the moment, I've got the cheap and primitive version- some PVC with a slot cut in it pop-rivited to the back of my seat (Keowee II).

Ugly and moderately useful (very for transporting rod somewhere, not so great for getting to the rod after a hit while trolling).

I keep thinking about mounting one of those Roberts-type rod holders somewhere, but haven't gotten around to it yet.........
