doogue Juro,

I would love to do an oversand trip as the season fades. The last time that you took me out there was the highlight of the season for me - in terms of the overall appeal of one outing. The blitz action that my brother, Roop and I enjoyed a few weeks back certainly wins out on the adrenaline front but if you integrate the curve of pure satisfaction then that day on Nauset wins out.

I am not sure when you are heading oversand but keep us in mind when you are heading out on Nauset in the late September and early October time frame. I appreciate the offer.

I vote that its a tie, since saltRon probably divided 52 by 2.2lbs/kg thus giving So, maybe time responded to the question as the tie breaker?
Nick -

That sounds like a sound suggestion, therefore SaltRon takes the Old School award for one fly line of choice up to a $50 value!

Round of virtual applause for out friend from British Columbia!

Ron - email me with your snail mail and line choice, CONGRATS!

Special thanks to Capt.Konrad Gesner of the Massachusetts south shore for the use of the "family heirloom" photo.

Mike - close one, as usual I admire your sportsmanship in the hair-splitting results. I'd love if you and your clan could join me for a fall sortie out on Nauset this fall before the snow flies.

doogue Whoa, I guessed 1952 and 52 pounds. Saltron guessed 1952 and 23.6363 kg * 2.2 lb/kg = 51.99986 lbs. So, significant figures included, SaltRon wins. That was close...

Wow...I hadn't seen the posts on the second page when I wrote this. If we are splitting hairs a kilogram = 2.2046226 lb so 23.6363 kg * 2.2046226 lb/kg = 52.10912 lbs.

Who knows...if I am the winner then I donate my proceeds to the Forum. The contest really should not come down to significant figures.

Awesome fish though...

I couldn't find the string this morning to enter. But Damn old doogue was awful close even though he's one # over I'd give it to him.

juro SaltRon entered 23.6363 KG...

454g = 1lb, thus 23.6363 KG = 52.06 lbs...

Doogue entered 52 lbs, both same year...

Doogue wins by a MERE .06233 lbs? ? ?

I am thinking this is too close to call, let's take a vote - sudden death challenge -or- hairline trigger?

Remember they changed the colour back when we were were all still chasing all the girls.
23.6363 KG
HOLD ON! Who remembers how to convert 23.6363 KG to POUNDS?

juro I get the same result = spread of a mere 1 point! Doogue - great job.

Let me know what flyline you're in need of, and congrats!

Nick Looks to me like Mike Doogue wins!
09-06-2001 06:17 PM
juro So howz this for a method of determining the winner...

delta / years + delta / pounds = total point spread

lowest point spread wins the fly line?

juro Capt.Gesner was not to disappoint.... he was out chasing albies all day, and just called to set things straight:

Vanna, the envelope please...

Official estimate from the Gesner clan:

51 pounds, 1952 - the location... NAUSET INLET!!

OK - winner claim your prize... (I'm lookin back as we speak)

juro I am expecting a phone call from his son, Capt. Konrad Gesner, anytime now. I honestly don't know myself... asked him to call me with the answer today. I left a message on his answering machine this morning as a reminder, I'll bet he's out fishing.
