Long live the Elwha

Each spec of turquoise silt that colors the Elwha in high flows is freed from a timeless capture in a glacier - passing by in a blink to the pacific, which feeds the rains which rebuilds the glaciers to repeat the cycle over many thousands of years. The indigenous salmonids have been an inseparable part of this cycle centuries before man, yet we are on the brink of destroying it in a cosmic instant. To see this river and it's Olympic mountain cradle is unforgettable and its revival is a human legacy transcending all of the trivial things that we obsess over in the daily news. Long live the Elwha!
