JonC Wondering how the striped phocus group has reacted to this fly, I really like the concept, I'm hoping the fish concurred.

JonC I'd looked at that fly several times but wasn't quite sure how I felt about it, but this evening after a mild dose of Luksosuwa made from real potatoes, it became quite clear, funny how that stuff works.

A great model of impressionism. If my guess is correct you're only trying to immitate the front half of the herring, judging the back part as irrelevant to the illusion, am I on the right track?
