Farmed Salmon in Canada's Maritimes have become resistant to the standard treatment for sea lice, and the aquaculture industry alternatives include using "bath" systems that impact the waters around cages. The River Foundation, based in Montreal, is actively seeking protection for the Restigouche River, known for its very large Atlantic salmon, and this past week launched a petition drive. ASF has announced the winners of its 2009 Live Release Rewards and Recognition Draws for anglers and outfitting camps. Both ASF and its Regional Councils fully support live release, for the future of the salmon runs.
