MarkS Fished around P-town last weekend...SCADS of p-bunker all over the beach at Herring Cove, as well as near shore....Bluefish feasting, though fishing was MUCH better from the kayak than it was from shore. Did not make it out to the trolling fleet to see if they were pulling in stripedey fish or toothy fish.

Even midday incoming tides on the shallows further south brought stripers to knee deep water...though mostly small

A week might change things...let you know next Tuesday.

sradin I have been fishing almost daily out at Race Point. The water has become so warm that the only way to get into big bass is to reach the drop off which is beyond casting range (even with spinning gear) but accessable by kayak. Otherwise there are bluefish everywhere. The activity seems to be right after sunrise and at dusk. Night fishing has been very slow. The backside beaches have had a fair amount of mung, but there are pockets of clean water. If you are walking, I would go to Longknook beach in Truro, lots of good holes and structure, particularly to the left, Ballston Beach in Truro to the right or Herring Cove in Provincetown. At Herring Cove there are two good spots. The more accessible is to walk to the far left and down about 300 yards. The potentially better spot, but a longer walk, is to the far right as far as you can go. This is Hatches Harbor a big tidal outflow that attracts some big fish. It is particularly good on the dropping tide. It has been a bit quiet of late. If you go to Herring Cove for late night fishing you should stop at the visitors center to get a free pass which is needed to park after midnight. One other productive place is the mouth of the Pamet River in Truro. Depending upon the wind direction, you can get there from the north at Corn Hill Beach or the south at Fisher Beach. This is about as complete a guide as I can supply. I

juro I should tell him to hitchhike south and fish the stretch of beach north of the lifeguard stand at Truro while he is there

Sean Juan Juro,

A lot of bait at least a week ago I fished the stretch between lighthouses - very fishy but didn't catch/see that many.

FredA Apoligies but I couldn't resist and any info was probably too late anyhow. The only reports I've seen are that Race point has been pretty fishy and Herring Cove had a lot of schoolies. Of course this is all a little late and with this wind the area is probably not too fun to fish anyhow. Comm. season ended this past week I believe.

mikez Wow! I guess I misinturpreted Juro's question!
I thought he was asking how the fishing was.
Or maybe I misiturprested the answers. Are there leather chaps with Orvis logos? Is the duct tape for attaching your stripping basket?

I have no first hand knowledge of current conditions but the area featured promenently in boating threads on other forums. I think the commercial guys were cleaning up out that way jigging wire. The fishing wire, not for tying people up.

FredA Yes, by all means, dress appropriatly.

Carnival d' Ptown

Bring your leather chaps, bondage wear, duct tape, rainbow wig, "stripping" basket, and platform shoes...

...and you'll blend right in!

Whats up in Ptown?

A friend is heading to Ptown for the day and asked me whats happening up that way. I haven't been up there this year but thought I would ping the collective psyche of the forum for him.

Anyone been fishing the race / Herring Cove?
