Awesome Bruce! It's comforting to know that someone who has seen such monster fish as you have in your day still finds pleasure in a new conquest. Looking forward to fishing the rips with you this season.

best regards,
Juro

First Fly UNkeeper

I had an hour to kill before the chicken was due to come out of the oven, so I went down to the River Road landing to practice with my new rod. As I pulled up I saw two guys talking, one of which I knew. The other was with his son and had been fishing for some time there with no luck. We ended up talking for a hour or so and I could'nt get over this kid. He was just like me at his age, totally addicted to fishing. It made me happy to see him in his glory down at the water with his dad, fishing.
I never wet a line there as it was well past time for the chicken to come out and be dry by now. I headed for home. On the way I pass the town cove in Orleans. Is that fish dimpling ? I watched and saw no comorant or other diving bird so I pulled in at the Goose Hummock landing and got the rod out of its case.
I casted from the dock a half hour or so in my fumblings and tangles. Finally I was stripping fast and I caught a small bass. The first of the year and the first ever with a fly rod. The little fish surprised me and made me laugh out loud. Life is good.
Bruce
