|BigDave||About the XP and Xi2: I have both and to me the XP definitely has a faster action. The difference is more noticable when your'e casting a floating line into a 25mph wind on the flats. The Xi2 has a little more backbone for tossing sinking lines and lifting fish (although I have broken a couple). Each line has a sweet spot and for me it's 8wt for XP and 10wt for Xi2.|

|SDHflyfisher||the difference between the xp and Xi2 is that the Xi2 is built to fight fish better and has a stronger butt sections for big hard fighting fish and salt water|

Wish I could try both but that's not possible where I live , it's mail order or nothing here.
Hence the question as too the difference.

|FishHawk||Xi2 is a much faster rod. I would suggest that you try before you build. FishHawk|

|FishHawk||I would use either a Sage, Winston or T&T . If you check the internet you can get a good deal on a Sage XP blank for short money as Sage has discontinued this product line. Hope this helps you out . FishHawk|
