Silverghost Not much response sofar. I did see the link mentioned in the reply. Thanks for that. I also read something about these licenses being hard to get ( read: almost impossible ). We have more or less decided to go to Xcalak. Fishing with guides included. Exploring the coastline will be an option.

Anyway. I keep on looking for info. Anything on fishing in Xcalak is welcome

When I went to Baja a couple of years ago I picked mine up by mail from one of the Ca outlets.

juro There was some discussion on this topic recently... a search might provide good info.

Personally I prefer other destinations for DIY, like Acklins in the out-islands of the Bahamas.

Cancun DIY ?

read a lot about the fishing in the Cancun area ( Boca Paila etc etc ) but it seems licenses are necessary nowadays (The Nature reserve) A little adventure is OK but I don't like the fact that someone might come around the corner asking for paperwork I don't have and I hardly speak any spanish
Does anyone no anything about licenses and are there opportunities further down south (Xcalak area) for DIY flyfishing ( bones , tarpon etc ) ? Are there flats on the ocean side ? We plan to go somewhere in Januari 2007.

Thanks
