Adrian Good to hear you found them Greg!

I got a call on my way up to RI Friday to hook up with one of the local "old timers" and fish some rocks.

Bottom line was the kayak didn't get wet but I did get to fish some new and very interesting spots. Big bluefish and stripers to 26 inches with scary big stuff lurking in the shadows.

I finished up at Weakapaug Sunday morning just before dawn but it was pretty quiet - unlike the rest of the South County where there seemed to be fish breaking everywhere I stopped.

I did see an amazing site just after the tide turned outgoing. There was a migration of silversides leaving the pond that was of unbelievable proportions. It spanned half the width of the breachway and almost the entire depth - it was tough to see the bottom at times. I stood on the bridge drinking a coffee for twenty minutes and it was still going strong. When I passed by an hour later, the last trickle of the exodus was drifting by. There was almost no activity from feeding fish in the breachway but I'll bet they were having a mighty feast just outside the breachway.

Has anyone taken a close look at the peanut bunker - the one inch stuff? Oddly, the conspicuous black spot is missing from almost all the samples I've seen. Not sure if its a sub-species?

Napatree

Hi Guys,

Ended up solo at Napatree. Put in at Barn Island. As soon as I put in the fog rolled in on me for awhile, lot's of boat traffic hittin the horns. I crossed a major channel and the fog lifted a bit. I saw some bird activity over blitzing fish and paddled hard to get there. No so sooner did I get there then they moved elsewhere. Fast moving blitzing fish can be a workout to keep up with in a kayak. At first I thought they might be hardtails, But later after hooking one I found them to be stripers. Lots of small ones with a few larger schoolie sized bass in the mix. I had 2 or 3 schools around me blitzing on small baitfish for a couple of hours, kept me busy. Never made it to Napatree, got distracted by blitzing bass!

Juro - Yes new- old boat.. Completely restored, top down... 30 foot Scarab CC w/twin 200's. Will pick up later this year from Florida.

Maybe next week then...

Hi Guys,

I have to be back by 5pm to take care of the boys for the weekend. I was out last saturday and there was bait clouds everywhere. Saw some big stripers cruising in between all the oblivious bathers on the beach. I'll bet the life guards and the bathers wouldn't like to see me casting my fly next to them, let alone hookin up and have a fish wrapping the line around their legs

Some big bait clouds out and about, looking forward to alittle time on the water.

Good luck Adrian and Sean...
Mark enjoy your trip north to Maine, hope the cliff fishin treats you well.

We'll get together another time...

Greg.

Adrian I can't get away until 4:00 pm or so.

I should get there about 7:00 and plan to fish the night.

Dble Haul I'm headed to Maine for my grandmother's 80th birthday party, and my dad and I will be sneaking out Saturday evening for some cliff fishing.

Have fun Greg, and let us know how you do. Word is that there's bait everywhere right now.
