juro Depending on the species / gear rating, either a 20# or 30# dacron backing (e.g. micron) will do fine. If you are cramped for room and seeking large game then gelspun would fill the bill.

stock reel backing type?

i Havent been fishing in 8 years (i know, i know, what mental illness did i have...) im startin up again and thanks to my latest girlfriend.

Im barrowing one of the families fly rod combos for my g/f (her first fly fishing experience) im sure is the cheaper type rod and reel combo.

What type of backing is typically used on these setups? i already bought me WF floating line for my own setup for our dry fly fishing trip coming up...

Thanks.
