juro You'd think the phone companies would get smart and make a waterproof phone / analogous to the Optio camera or throwaway underwater cameras.

Be nice if it floated too

Greg Pavlov I use a baggie and bury it in an inside pocket of my wading jacket.
One lesson I learned a long time ago (after taking an unexpected
short January swim near Pulaski): use a baggie with those complementary
blue and yellow zip lock halves that give you some clue as to whether
you've properly sealed it !

Spock Simms makes a cell phone bag that is clear and works very well

teflon_jones I usually just put mine in my pocket when I'm wearing waders. If I take a dunk, it'll get wet with me. Then again, I've only been wearing waders for a couple of years and before that wet waded. Back then anything I didn't want to get wet went from my shirt pociket to inside my hat when I went deep.

Bob Pauli 1. Record your names and numbers. Wetting my mobile phone lost all memory.
2. Put inside two zip lock bags.

juro Good question! A 100% waterproof case like the aquapack is a good way to go. Actually a cell phone is good insurane against emergency situations provided you have coverage.

I have recently gone bluetooth, which let's me answer calls using the button on the earpiece. Dialing is still done from the phone, but like you I don't do that often. So if I swim I lose just the earpiece.

However I do have the $5 insurance, the only problem with that is the inconvenience time while you wait for the replacement.

In certain areas the risk of water damage is low, others it's high. Play it accordingly.

Cell Phone

Can anyone provide suggestions about the best way to carry a cell phone while wading? Obviously, this is a practice which I avoid as much as possible but unfortunately it is occasionally necessary. The phone should be readily accessible and presumably should be in a waterproof container.
