For those not familiar with these types of places it is pretty much 24 hour all inclusive.........food......alcohol.....soft drinks.....meals.....and the selection of food is varied and usually very good......champange and orange juice mamosa's are standard fare available at breakfast....or whatever your heart desires....and the pools and pool bars are a nice way to meet other folks......(speaking of the Bahia here)

Great idea. I have stayed at the palldium and the Bahia Principe Tulum resorts.
We prefered the Bahia......not as large and a lot less walking to meals/bars and so on. I believe Pesca-maya will pick you up at any Tulum Resort at 8AM and return at 4PM. Not sure of the travel time to the water....I suspect an hour ride.
Currently they (if I have the name of the guide service correct).....charge 250 a
day .....2 guys to a boat......with water and lunch (recommend making own at the resort...they always have fantastic fresh baked bread and any number of cold cuts)........now for DIY.....a stripping basket is almost a "must have".....at the palldium I took a few bones...one very nice 4lbr....big for that area...jacks....pompano....and there are always cuda lurking about....at the Bahia,
headin south has some pretty decent opportunities....also a small cove that looks very "boney"...check out locogringo.com for photos of the areas/resorts taken from the air. And, I have a "friend" in the travel biz that could, depending on the number of takers for the clave, kick the pants off the rates of Apple, TNT Funjet and the others....also a good possibilite of getting Jr. Suites versus regular rooms.....the extra space and close proximity is great (at the Bahia Principe Tulum)
Lets keep this alive.........I and the wife are "in" for the trip.

You need lots of POOLS and good convenient food... within walking distance
Or better still a place where food and drink gets carried to you at the POOL..

|FredA||Elethera looks like a possible venue for this type of thing. Lots of rentals and nice beaches.|

Yes, Grand has always been on the short list as well (per earlier posts). Good testimonial.
There's something to be said for being able to sneak out EVERY day instead.

|jfbasser||I am committed to another cruise for 07, but having done both Grand Bahama and the Yucatan, both I and the wife prefer Grand for its overall convenience and the fishing Suites my lazy poolside style better...I am always looking for Striper spots where if I am not careful I hit my truck with my backcast|

I'd be interested. I would prefer to stay at one of the southern most of the socalled Mayan Reviera resorts, down towards tulum. Beutiful beaches and Acension just down the road a bit.
But, it would have to be next year.

Playa Del Carmen - Couples Clave?
I am starting to think that for the money, what is offered - that maybe the couples clave we keep threatening to do should be in Playa Del Carmen or thereabouts.
I've heard that this time of year the big vacation companies (TNT etc) are on the push to book their pre-paid arrangements and all inclusives (flight as well) can run as low as $1200 for a week.
The wives/girlfriends can keep busy with all thats going on while the guys sneak off here and there to take shots at bones, permit, tarpon, etc.
