teflon_jones Very nice looking fly! How has it done on the water?

Quentin Nice work. I've tried to tie a couple different styles of floating minnow flies but this looks like a better method. Have they been field-tested?

Awesome photo of the second fly!

Floating Baitfish

Last year I ran into a couple of situations of Big Drum and Cats hitting injured/dead baitfish up on the surface . I had nothing to fit the bill so-

Since it's a dead drift presentation I went a little towards realistic.

-tail is simply unravelled mylar twisted then CA'd at the tail base.

-underbody is a tapered peice of Rainy,s float foam . mylar is shaped by tying in at the front- grabbing the tail and pushing it forward - then coating the top with Fishing Glue( dilute CA) to hold the shape. Could probably tie it rotated on the shank to get a flat in the film presentation.
