The "behind the knees" always works for me. Remember NOT TO TWIST.
Twisting can splinter the blank in no time

|teflon_jones||Have you tried putting it behind your knees, grasping the two pieces, and then pushing apart with your knees (as opposed to pulling apart with your hands)?|

|juro||Cool the ferrules down with ice. If you are near a cold river, just put the rod in the water for a while and try again. Works for me every time.|

|Smolt||Put the rod back together, cast it five or ten times, then try again. This has worked for me. The flexing of the rod may loosen the ferrules that were stuck.|

I have had good luck getting stuck sections apart by carefully grasping each section as close to the ferrule as possible while holding the rod behind my knees and then pushing out with the knees while gently twisting my hands. I don't know why this works but it seems to do the job. Good luck.
