Thanks Jim, I'll keep that in mind;-)

Thanks flytyer, just what I needed to hear!

JimW I've had good luck with Redington, it's a decent rod and the service is great. The only thing I'd have to say against them is I seem to break more of their rods than any other - and I fish the other brands more often.

I have been impressed with the TFO pro and ticr series

Thumbs up

The new CPS is a really fine rod. Had quite a few casts of a friends and it compares very favourably to many more expensive rods.

flytyer Hangfire,

Redington most certainly are very good products since Sage bought them. The only reel difference is there are fewer rod models compared to pre-Sage. As far as not using them for larger fish like salmon or steelhead simply because some of the reels (not the Breakwater series like you got, which has a disc drag) only have click drags, that is a no-never-mind. Folks have caught many large salmon and steelhead on Hardy, click drag reels for over 100 years.

Your RedFly and Breakwater reel combo is one of the several excellent values anglers can avail themselves of now-a-days. In other words, use your RedFly and Breakwater reel with confidence and enjoy.

Hangfire Are you saying that since Sage bought them out, the rods are not as good?

I just picked up a Redington 7/8 Redfly 9ft6inch 2 peice rod with a Breakwater flyreel and a Redington green rod, reel case. It also came with cortland 333 line and backing installed. All brand new for $180, is that a decent deal?

Youngpatawan I would agree that for the price the rod is a great deal but the real I may be alittle weary of depending on what weight rod and reel combo you are looking for, if it is for trout then totally go for it man, but if it is going to be used for big fish you may want to consider looking for a different reel with a more solid drag system. They are a really good company it's just to bad that sage baught them out because they made a ton of really good rods.

flytyer You would be happy with the Redington combo if you chose to get one. They are good casting rods and the price is easy on the wallet.

Redington Worth The Price?

Thinking of getting a Redington rod and reel can anyone give me some feed back. I heard they are a pretty good company and make some good equipment. Thanks!
