Flyfsh I ran a guide service out of The Dam Store below Beaver Dam. Where on the White River? I have fished most all the white.

Yea I figured that it might be a little big. What I might do is trade or buy a 6 weight. Im 16 and have always fly fished a little but now really getting serious. Im gonna try to set up a trip this summer. Thanks so much for the help. Hope to talk to you again.

thehooker Hey TJ I have fished the white for 30+ years. Your setup is fine for streamer fishing but might be too large for nymphing which is the primary method of fishing the White. Streamer fishing is good throughout the year and really good during times of increased generation. When are you going? Right now generation is very high and shad are coming through the dam which really turns on the big fish. If generation slows winter fish primarily feed on midges and in that case your setup is probably too large. Most everyone including guides fish 4 or 5 weights and keep bigger sticks for streamer fishing. Any other questions would be answered happily.
Tight lines, thehooker.

White River and Brown setup ?

I have a scott v2 8w. with a ross rythm 8w. Is that too big for the white river going after pretty big browns?
