And when you're rumaging around Michael's or WalMart or any of the sewing area's, ask them for the scissor sharpener's. I think I paid around $2 for mine & I use it on all my tying scissors & find I can cut anything I want without really worrying about it.

RE:Saving the good scissors from SWFF Synthetics

I did some research on the web for some knives for my wife. She wanted some good ones from J.A. Henckels (German Cutlery) and I found out that they made scissors as well. I bought a pair of their 4" embroidery scissors for $7.95 and these are some fantastic little scissors. Here's the site I found them on
www.CutleryAndMore.com
Item #41300-111
I also have the spring loaded fiskars and they were my primary shears before I bought the Henckels.

Saving the good scissors from SWFF Synthetics

I noticed how much of an effect synthetics had on my best fly scissors so I purchased a couple of Fiskar's at the craft store. They both have the chiseled point, one is a squeeze action style that folds closed.

All I can say is, I love the squeeze action chisel point so much I hardly ever use my good shears anymore for SW flies. My steelhead flies appreciate this!

So does my wallet, they run about 25-50% of the price.
