Moth Beast

John, here is my beast.....
I used to tie this for bass when I was back east.. I'll send it to you so you can test the bass, worked best for me at dusk. Let me know how it works for you.
Hook: Mustad 37187 #4-6
Thread: Contrasting to body (Brown here)
Body: Orange deer hair, as coarse as you can get and as long as you can get
Wing & Head: Natural/tan deer body hair, as coarse as you can get and as long as you can get

Tie on thread and overwrap the entire hook shank, wet this down with Flexament. Tie on 1/2 pencil of orange deer hair, tip to the rear, spin this around the hook at the front end of the hook and tie off. Gather the hair at the back of the hook, it should be spun all around the hook by now and tie it tigthly flaring the tips, tie off. Repeat this moving forward to the hook eye, forming several body segments. Trim the rear end leaving stubs flaring and trim of the front but without stubs, cement the segemnt wraps so they don't unravel. Take 1/2 pencil of natural deer hair, clean out the fuzz and short hair, tie on at the tips with tips facing forward, flare this out to form the moth wing effect and leave the tips forward to make a head.
This is the view from the bottom.
