I've been a Nikon Fan for years and I love their products. That Nikonus underwater camera is AWESOME! My father has an older one. Built like a rock, but it is for real diving and what not. I'll take my Canon anyday. In the surf for pics at the beach, in the pool, in the rain, on the ski slopes, or even in striper land, it is the best for its size. I also own last years version of that Nikon Nuvis camera, and it is well made as well. I recommend it for use on land, but nowhere near the water due to its pricetag. I don't think that is covered in the warantee :-).

Slobber, drool (click to see why)
Now that is a serious underwater system. I especially like the wide-angle lens "capture a whole school as it swims by". Something to aspire to own.
I could not find the action touch but I like their product line. This one looks great for the vest...
I ruined three good cameras in salt water before going for the underwater camera. Since then I've dunked it unintentionally twice, but now it doesn't matter. I dunk it intentionally now!

I have to say that the Cannon APS water proof camera is not that good. My buddy took his to Argentina and the pics were poor. Bummer because we don't get out that way too often.
I'll say it again. Look for the Nikon Action Touch (on ebay?). Like an auto Nikonos.
The Pentax WR series has gotten good comments from among many, Ralph Cutter who used his in a pinch for a Natnl. Geo asignment. That says a lot.
But anyone who knows, is crazy about the Nikon.

I bet you are unaware that Bean carries the Canon camera in question. Go to the Bean site and type the camera's item #, TA36038, into the "search" box. You can turn your credit into the Canon Elph Sport camera and have it on your doorstep by Friday if you do it this evening.
The "GEAR GUY" has spoken.......ask my "dynamo" dad, spending money on cool gadgets seems to be my forte!

Juro - timely post as I'm in the market for a new weatherproof/bombproof camera.
Had some problems with my Minolta waterproof camera (you may remember it from Monomoy last July). At any rate,my wife had bought it for me at LLBean so stopped in Freeport on way home from Rangeley. Learned Beans no longer sells the camera as they found it to be a dog. Employee in the camera dept nodded his head knowingly as I pulled it out of my bag & he proceeded to tell me the problems I was most likely having with it. He tried to fix it & when he couldn't Beans took full return, no questions asked. Shameless plug for LLBean - absolutely top notch service.

Juro...Canon makes great stuff...this one sounds bullet proof!
By the way...Are you going to be at Chatham this weekend?
I'm going down early Sat to fish until my arms fall off. Stay the night (Adrian to share a place in West Dennis if the CAC falls through)...I'll be looking for you...mind if I follow you around?! Will fish Sunday then leave to beat the rush (or stay 'til the dust settles?!)

I've seen that camera and it looks really nice. I love my Nikon Nuvis S that is APS, and I'd love to have the same picture versatility and size in an underwater camera. Might be a good Birthday gift to ask for.

Another winner from Canon?
This camera looks really good... I am a happy owner of a Canon underwater and this one looks a lot more compact due to the APS film.
