Black Scampi

Black Scampi

This was my attempt at personalizing the GP. I tie it in sizes from 4 to 2/0 for both winter and summer fish. On its inaugural trip, it brought a nice summer-run buck to hand.



Hook: Alec Jackson Spey in smaller sizes and Tiemco 7999 in larger
Thread: Black 3/0 Danville
Tail: Bunch of black marabou
Feelers: 4 strands of moose main (tied slightly longer than tail)
Eyes: Mono or large bead chain
Body: Large black cactus chenille or estaz
Hackle: Black spey hackle
Shellback: Ringneck pheasant neck feathers dyed purple (a short one over point of hook and two longer feathers at the head)
