DFix The dams along the Ipswich probably won't be removed any time soon, partially due to the river's 'created' importance in providing water to towns along the flowage; explanation of which doesn't even begin to touch the political maelstrom surrounding the river's MANY usages, including recreational, or the impact those usages have on wildlife, etc.

One or two years ago, Nat Moody, of First Light Anglers in Manchester, and a member of North Shore Chapter, CCA Massachusetts, spearheaded a blueback herring restoration project. I was unable to participate. I don't know any subsequent anecdotal information.

Ipswich River Dam Removal?

Has there ever been any consideration given to removing the dam in the center of Ipswich. This at the very least would help the herring runs. I can not imagine there is any great amount of power generated if any.
