BigDave Nice fly,

From my experiences, pickeral LOVE that hot orange color more than any other gamefish. The louder the better.

flyfisha1 Ahhh, pickerel, my favorite FW game fish. That's a cool pattern; I've found that most SW baitfish patterns can be "down-sized" to catch pickerel and other pike family members. Then again, at the size that some of the Northerns and muskies get up to, down-sizing isn't always required.

I think I've taken more pickerel on red/white, yellow perch, and chartreuse over white/pearl than any other color patterns.

Dble Haul
Pickeral Deceiver

This is Lefty's pattern in a color combo that has been very good to me with large pickeral.

Hook: Size 2
Thread: Red, 3/0
Tail support: Yellow bucktail with copper krystal flash
Tail: Red barred grizzly hackle, 2 matched pairs
Wing and throat: Red over yellow bucktail with copper krystal flash
Wing top: Peacock swords
Eyes: Prismatic
Head: 5 minute epoxy

Overall fly length is about 3 inches.
