2HandTheSalt The 12LA makes a dandy spey reel, regardless of what you want to call it.

The Teton 9/11 LA is another of my favorites.

Tioga #12 L A Spool

Nick,
I'm aware that the spools in question are not "true" large arbors. I'm already using the fill it up with lots of backing method.

Nick Just a thought...but the LA spools from Tioga really aren't LA. I bought one...then realized that all they did was take away from backing capacity and move the diameter of the reel out. I'd just fill it with backing and if you only use the outer section, its just as good as the LA. And there's always the security of that extra yardage.

Does anyone have a #12 Tioga L A spool, used or otherwise that they want to trade for a #12 standard arbor spool?
