striblue Cris Windram also has a nice set of Candy Bunny's... but he ties them with long tails to imitate eels.

Dble Haul
Rabbit Candy

This fly was originally designed by Bob Popovics for use in the salt (mainly for tunoids), but as usual I've found that epoxy flies are great for warmwater as well. This fly is tied exactly the same as a Surf Candy, except that a Zonker strip is tied in as a tail prior to adding the veil of super hair at the nose of fly. After the coats of epoxy have been applied and are sufficiently dry, the super hair is clipped as close as possible to the outside edge of the epoxy.

I normally fish for smallmouths with an 8 pound test tippet, but I had two in a row pop me off with these flies on the strike. I changed to 12 pound test and didn't get popped again. Something about the shimmying Zonker tail makes smallies whack the tar out of this fly.

Hook size is 4, and fly length is about 2.5".
