Finally got out for a few hours yesterday afternoon on the way home from a business trip. Fished the northern MA portion of the Deerfield for about 2 hours. Nothing doing. The water was moderately high but fairly clear. Spent the night before reloading my reels and getting ready. Fished wooly buggers and streamers with no luck. Slow hatch of #20 or smaller light brown or tan going but no sign of any fish. Decided to switch to floating line and try nymphs but realized I brought the floating line spool for by 8 wt (using a 6wt). Wouldn't be so bad if I hadn't spent three hours the night before screwing around with the rods and reloading the reels to get ready. Left the other rods and reels in the garage! Had a blast - it was good to get back on the water. Anyone else having any early spring success?
